About
I am a professor of economics at Coe College. I teach a lot of classes and advise a lot of students. When I’m not spending time with my two tiny humans, I try to do some research and publish a few things. My research interests focus on local government and nonprofit management, nonprofit location theory, and spatial visualization and analysis.
My professional and academic career has focused on cities; in a former life I worked in public administration and I saw how powerfully the places we create can both enable and constrain the wicked problems we face. My primary mission in higher education is to help students learn how to engage these challenges in the communities they call home, helping them build the skills and experience they need to change the world around them.
I am the very proud father of June and Michael, and I am the luckiest to be married to the best thing that ever happened to me, Teale.
